Abstract

KWLH is one of the meta-knowledge strategies, which stems from the model of prior knowledge and acquired in teaching KWL, which was derived from the ideas of Piaget. The aim of the research is to measure the effectiveness of using the (KWLH) strategy in teaching home economics to develop meta-knowledge skills and scientific concepts among a sample of (60) female students. Of the first-year secondary school students, and were divided into two groups, control and experimental, each group consisted of (30) students. To achieve this, a test of scientific concepts and a Metacognition Scale were built. Therefore, the descriptive approach and the quasi-experimental approach were followed. The results revealed statistically significant differences when Level (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-application to test scientific concepts, in favor of the experimental group, there are statistically significant differences at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-application of the Metacognition Scale. As well as the existence of a positive, statistically significant correlation between the scores of the research sample in the scientific concepts test, and the measurement scale as a whole and its skills for the benefit of the experimental group. Beyond knowledge as a whole and its skills. This reflects the effectiveness of using (K.W.L.H) strategy in teaching home economics to develop metacognitive skills and scientific concepts among first-year secondary school students.
