MANAGING ANGER STRATEGIES AND THEIR RELATION TO SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR A SAMPLE STUDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY

Abstract

   The current research aims at determining the level of achieving some strategies of managing anger for the sample individuals, the level of their social intelligence, studying the relationship between the strategies of managing anger by the university students and their social intelligence, studying the differences in the strategies of managing anger by the students and the social intelligence according to the variables (gender- living area- kind of study – parents’ education – the family monthly income). The descriptive analytical method has been used in the research.   The research sample consists of 246 university students from rural and urban areas in Al-Gharbeya Governorate, from different social and economic classes. They have been chosen randomly and the most important finding were: There is a correlative relationship between the strategies of anger managing with all its axes and the social intelligence of the university students with all its dimensions, there are not statistically significant differences between the rural and the urban students in all strategies of anger-managing, there are statistically significant differences between the rural and urban students in the social intelligence as it reached (3.03) which is statistically significant at the level (0.001) for the rural students. There are not statistically significant differences between the male and the female student of the sample study in all the strategies of anger-managing. There are statistically significant differences between the male and female students concerning the social intelligence where it reached T (-2.168) which is statistically significant value at the level (0.05) for the female students. There are not significant differences between the strategies of anger-managing with all its axes, and the social intelligence with all its dimensions for the university students according to the kind of study, so, there is not statistically significant variance between the students of the sample in all the strategies of anger-managing and the questionnaire of social intelligence according to the monthly income of the family. The research recommend that all universities should hold workshops and seminars for the students to develop their social intelligence and to improve their strategies of managing anger as well as informing the students the importance of managing their anger effectively in their scientific and practical life.
