Abstract

The research aimed to explore the reality of faculty members' use of artificial intelligence applications, identify obstacles to their use, and suggest ways to improve their academic performance at Jazan University. A descriptive and analytical approach was employed using two questionnaires: one to assess the current use of AI applications and another to evaluate their role in enhancing faculty performance. The sample included 216 faculty members. Results indicated a moderate level of AI application usage in teaching, research, and community service. Significant differences were found favoring male faculty members regarding the perceived impact of AI on academic performance at a 0.01 significance level. Additionally, there was a statistically significant correlation between AI use and academic performance improvement, with an eta square value of 0.23, suggesting that 23% of performance improvement is attributed to AI usage. The findings emphasized the variability in AI application levels among faculty and confirmed a significant impact of AI on performance enhancement. The research recommends developing a long-term strategic plan within university colleges to integrate artificial intelligence applications effectively, ensuring periodic evaluations, and fostering strategic partnerships with specialized technology companies.
