Marital Bullying as Realized by the Wife and its Relationship to Family Communication

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between marital bullying with its four axes (economic bullying, psychological bullying, verbal bullying, physical bullying), and family communication in its three dimensions (dialogue, understanding, persuasion) among a sample of wives. The current study followed the descriptive analytical approach, where the marital bullying questionnaire was prepared and codified from the wife's point of view, and the family communication questionnaire as perceived by the wife, and the questionnaire was applied electronically to 1000 wives, and they were selected in an objective shell manner and from different social and economic levels and from the countryside and urban of some governorates of the Republic of Egypt Arabic. The results showed a statistically significant negative correlation between marital bullying with its four axes and family communication in its three dimensions at a significance level of 0.01. The study made a set of recommendations, the most important of which was the preparation of awareness programs for those about to marry and newlyweds through various visual and audio media through home management specialists and institutions to educate them on how to confront bullying that a wife may be exposed to by her husband, while stressing the importance of preparing training courses to train wives to know the appropriate ways to communicate with all family members.
