Dysmorphic Features of the Body, their Relationship, with Irrational Thoughts, Aggressive Behavior among Students, Faculty of Home Economics

Abstract

The current research aimed to reveal the relationship between the manifestations of imaginary body deformity, irrational thoughts, and aggressive behavior among students of the Faculty of Home Economics at Menoufia University. The study was applied to a sample of (556) students from the Faculty of Home Economics at Menoufia University in the first semester of the year 2022-2023 AD. Results showed that there is a direct positive correlation with statistical significance between the students’ scores on the Illusory Body Deformation Scale and its dimensions and their scores on the Irrational Ideas Scale and its dimensions and their scores on the Aggressive Behavior Scale and its dimensions. Also, showed that there are differences between the average scores of the two research groups, males and females, on the scale of irrational thoughts as a whole, in favor of males, and the scale of imaginary deformities of the body as a whole, in favor of females. As for the scale of aggressive behavior as a whole, there are no statistically significant differences between the two groups of males and females, and that there are differences between the average scores of the research sample in the scale of aggressive behavior and the scale of irrational thoughts in favor of the education and nutrition specialization compared to the administration and textile specialization, and the scale of imaginary deformity of the body due to the difference in specialization in favor of the administration and nutrition specialization.
