Abstract

The research aimed to reveal the effectiveness of the Daniel model augmented with the virtual lab in teaching home economics for developing life skills and electronic communication skills in the secondary stage. The descriptive and quasi-experimental approaches were applied. The research sample was selected from first-grade secondary girl students at Tahwai Co-Educational Secondary School, Ashmon Educational Administration, Menoufia. It consisted of 60 students divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, each comprising 30 students. The following tools were prepared: a life skills situations test and a performance assessment card for electronic communication skills. These were pre and post-administered to both groups (experimental and control). After statistical data processing, the research results showed that there were no statistically significant differences at the (0.05) level between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the pre-administration of the life skills situations test and the performance assessment card for electronic communication skills. However, there was a statistically significant difference at the (0.05) level between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-administration of the life skills situations test as a whole and the performance assessment card for electronic communication skills as a whole, in favor of the experimental group. Additionally, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the scores of the experimental group students in the post-administration of the life skills situations test as a whole and the performance assessment card for electronic communication skills as a whole
