Effectiveness of POSSE & PQ4R strategies in Teaching Home Economics to Develop Deep Understanding and logical Thinking skills for Preparatory Students

Abstract

This article investigates the effectiveness of the POSSE and PQ4R strategies in teaching Home Economics to develop deep understanding and logical thinking skills for preparatory students. The Research sample consisted of (90) female students who were divided into three equal groups:  the first experimental group  (30), the second experimental group (30), and the control group (30). The following tools were used: deep understanding and logical thinking skills tests. Both descriptive and quasi-experimental approaches were applied. The results showed that there is a statistically significant variation at a significant level (≤0.05) in the mean scores of the two experimental groups using POSSE & PQ4R strategies and the control group in the deep understanding and logical thinking skills in the post-test, as a whole and their sub-skills separately in favor of the two experimental groups. There is no statistically significant variation in the post-test in the deep understanding  and logical thinking skills between the two experimental groups using PQ4R& POSSE strategies, as a whole and their sub-skills in the mean scores of the female students
