Effectiveness of Counseling Program to Enhance Youth Entering Job Market Awareness of Change Management and Self-regulation Skills in Developing Positive Psychological Capital

Abstract

The research aims to investigate the effectiveness of counseling program in enhancing change management with its sub-competences (preparing, creating, stabilizing change) and self-regulation with its skills (goals setting, self-planning, time management, control external stimuli, self-monitoring, self-evaluation), and in developing positive psychological capital with its sub-competences (self-efficacy, hope, optimism, flexibility) for youth entering the job market. The basic sample consisted of (284) students, and the experimental sample consisted of (71) students in the 4th grade of the Faculty of Home Economics, Helwan University, with low research tools to apply to the counseling program. The researchers used the general data form, the change management scale, the self-regulation skills scale, the positive psychological capital scale, and the counseling program. The research followed the descriptive analytical and experimental methods. The main results show that There are statistically significant differences at the level (0.01, 0.05) between the means of change management, self-regulation skills, and positive psychological capital among the basic sample according to (gender, education level of parents, professional level of father, monthly income of the family, work with study), Positive significant relationships between change management, self-regulation skills, and positive psychological capital, A statistically significant difference at level (0.01) between the pre and post-test on the research tools of experimental sample in favor of the post-test. This indicates the effectiveness of the program.
