Traditional Bullying and Electronic Bullying Through Social Media and their Relationship to Social Withdrawal among Adolescents

Abstract

This current research aims to study the relationship between traditional and electronic bullying through social media and their relationship to social withdrawal among adolescents and identify the differences in (traditional bullying, electronic bullying, and social withdrawal) among adolescents according to the variables (gender and place of residence). The research tools comprised: the primary data form, and the questionnaires on (traditional bullying, electronic bullying, social media, and social withdrawal). The research was applied to a sample of (608) adolescent students in the second semester of the academic year 2021-2022. The research concluded a set of results as follows: There is a statistically significant correlation between social withdrawal and both traditional bullying and electronic bullying, There is a statistically significant difference between the scores of the male and female research groups in traditional bullying and electronic bullying, in favor of males, There are no differences between the scores of the male and female research groups in social withdrawal, There are no statistically significant differences between adolescents in their average scores in the questionnaires (traditional bullying - electronic bullying - social withdrawal) according to the place of residence, traditional bullying and electronic bullying contribute to predicting social withdrawal of adolescents.
