The Effectiveness of “ Ady and Shire Model of Cognitive Acceleration” in Teaching Home Economics among Preparatory Stage

Abstract

The current research Investigated The effectiveness of “Adey and Shire Model of Cognitive Acceleration” in teaching Home Economics for developing meta-cognitive thinking skills, concept comprehension, and practical skills among Second tear preparatory female students. A Meta-Cognitive Thinking Scale, A Concept Comprehension Test and A Practical Skills Observation Card were prepared. On the sample consisted of (60) students,(30) as an experimental group, (30) as a control group. The results reveled the following: There is a statistically significant difference  at (0.01) between the mean scores on the post application of The Meta-Cognitive Thinking Scale, in favor of the experimental control group; there is a statistically significant difference  at (0.01) between the mean scores on the post application of Concept Comprehension Test, in favor of the experimental control group; there is a statistically significant difference  at (0.01) between the mean scores on the post application of Practical Skills Observation Card, in favor of the experimental control group There is a statistically significant positive correlation at (0.01) level among the experimental group students' mean scores on the post application of The Meta-Cognitive Thinking Skills, their mean scores on Concept Comprehension Test, and their scores on Practical Skills. Thus, the “Ady and Shire Model of Cognitive Acceleration” was proven to be effective in teaching Home Economics for developing meta-cognitive thinking skills, concept comprehension, and practical skills among preparatory stage female students.
