Saudi Women Practices toward Protecting Home Environment from Pollution and their Relationship to the Values Flair

Abstract

The current study aimed to detect the nature of the relationship between the level of the Saudi women's practices to protect home environment from pollution, including its various forms (food, water, air, noise, visual electromagnetic and other pollutants inside home) and between the their moral values including (social, economic, aesthetic, religious, political and theoretic values). The study tools included the general information form and the measurement of the Saudi women's practices to protect home environment from pollution prepared by both researchers. The study also used the values measurement prepared by Hamid Zahran and Ijlal Sirri (1985) as a reference. Furthermore, the main study sample consisted of working and non-working (200) Saudi married women from Taif's City, the most important findings of the study were as follows:
-      The highest percentage of Saudi women showed high level of practices in the scopes of food and air pollution, while showed middle level for the other scopes (water, electromagnetic, noise and other pollutants) and for the practices as a whole.
-      The lack of statistically significant differences between the  materfamilias in the scopes of protecting home environment from pollution including food and electromagnetic and other pollutants, and the total score of the measurement depending on the different levels of  the education for Saudi women.
-      There are statistically significant differences between the Saudi materfamilias in the level of practices toward protecting home environment from water - air - noise pollution depending on the different level of education for Saudi women in favor of those who enjoy a high level of education.
-      The lack of a statistically significant correlation between the value flair of Saudi women and their educational levels.
-      The lack of statistically significant differences between the working and non-working Saudi women at the level of the practices toward protecting home environment from pollution. (the scopes and total score).
-      The lack of significant relationship between the level of the practices of Saudi women toward protecting home environment from pollution (the scopes and total score) and the values flair ​​(the extents and total score) except for the.      
aesthetic values​​, where it was found a positive statistically significant relationship between the total score of the practices of Saudi women toward protecting home environment from pollution and between the aesthetic values​​.
Key Recommendations:
Activating the role of educational institutions and universities and women's civil associations to serve the community to prepare scientific guidelines programs aimed at women and organizing intellectual seminars, preparing newsletters and campaigns to promote the culture of environmental protection in general and, in particular, the home environment from pollution in all its forms.
