Abstract

This research aims at preparing , implementing  and assessing  the effectiveness of housewives consumption culture modernization-based program to limit the hazards of electronic waste .The basic study specimen comprised 206 housewives randomly and conditionally selected from nonworking  housewives and  working women at the universities of  Helwan and Mansoura ,certain governmental departments, institutions and companies at the Governorates of Cairo, Giza and Daqahlia ,selected from different medium and high economic levels (income level starts at LE 4000 and up) and possess several electronic devices. The study experimental specimen comprised 50 housewives selected from the basic specimen  of poor awareness of how to limit the hazards of electronic waste and of poor level of electronic devices consumption culture. The research instruments comprised ;General Data Form, the Measurement of Limiting Electronic Waste Hazards, Electronic Devices Consumption Culture Measurement and housewives consumption culture modernization-based program to limit the hazards of electronic waste ( prepared by the researcher) .The research adopted the analytical and experimental methodology.
The results showed that the housewife’s awareness of electronic waste to limit its hazards is low at 45.1 % and the electronic devices consumption culture is low at 40.8 % .The results also showed a statistical difference in limiting the electronic waste according to certain study variables ( husband’s and wife’s education level) in favor of the higher level and family  average size in favor of the smaller size and monthly average income in favor of the medium income .Whereas ,there were no differences as per ;wife’s age, marriage duration and wife’s job.
Moreover, results showed a statistical difference in electronic devices consumption culture according to ; wife’s age in favor of the older, longer marriage duration ,couple’s higher education level and monthly medium average income. On the other hand, there were no statistical differences as per family size and wife’s job. There is also a positive correlation between housewife’s electronic devices consumption culture and the level of limiting electronic waste hazards at 0.01 function level. Additionally, results showed statistical differences between average marks of experimental specimen in developing awareness to limit electronic waste hazards in the light of developing electronic devices consumption culture at 0.01 function level in favor of program post-application.
