The role of the husband’s towards family responsibilities as perceived by Wives and its correlation to life satisfaction

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the relationship between husband’s roles towards the family responsibilities as perceived by their wives.  Acting to the responsibilities of (Economic - educational - toward the wife), life satisfaction regarded to three Axes (Economic - family- and individual), and this study was done on a haphazard purposive sample which was consisted of 252 wives from a various economic and social levels in Zagazig city, El-sharkia governorate. From September to the end of May 2015, the search tools were applied, including (general data form, questionnaire regarded to role of husband’s toward their family responsibilities  as perceived by wives, life satisfaction), followed by an analytical descriptive method using SPSS statistics and the obtained result showed that:
- That level of husband’s toward their role of family responsibilities was average reached 56.3%. In addition, 75.5% of investigating sample were average regarded to the life satisfaction.
- There was a significant positive correlation at 0.001 between the total of family’s responsibilities and to each (economic satisfaction, family satisfaction, individual satisfaction and total satisfaction).
- There was a significant positive correlation at 0.001 between the total family responsibilities and husband’s education level a significant positive correlation at 0.01 between the total family responsibilities and wives education levels were found. Moreover, contrastingly a significant negative correlation at the 0.05 were presented between total family responsibilities and the husband’s. While, there was no significant correlation between the total family responsibilities and to each of the age of marriage, wife’s age, number of family members, income categories, participation. While, there was no significant correlation between the total life satisfaction and age of marriage, husbands and wife’s age, the number of family members, husband’s and wife educational levels, income categories.
- There was no significant differences between rural and urban households and households in each of the husband’s roles towards family responsibilities as perceived by their wives and life satisfaction differences.
- There was no significant differences between the working wives and non-working wives to each husband’s role towards family responsibilities and life satisfaction.
It could be concluded that, by establishing an educational seminar for husbands and youth awareness and encourage them toward the  family responsibilities, that could be achieved  through mosques or churches, educational and social clubs and the media, that could  reflect the feeling of satisfaction and achieved family happiness for wives
