Upgrading the skill of translating and describing textile industry terms through computer technology

Abstract

Despite the importance of specialized translation programs in the field of textile industries in the specialized academies, their spread at the national level is not at the required level, and this may be due to the fact that the cost of applying these programs exceeds the capabilities of these academies, hindering their spread and development .. Therefore the current research seeks to develop Translation and characterization skills of researchers and specialists in this field through the preparation and implementation of a new electronic program based on the use of computers and its specialized programs to develop the skill of translating and describing terms for textile industries with limited economic cost and simple application possibilities. By collecting the terms related to that field and working on translating and describing them, and applying them to a sample of twenty-two (22) researchers (12 instructors - 10 assistant teachers) in textile industries in different colleges and universities divided into two groups as follows:
Experimental group (11) researchers (6 teaching assistants - 5 assistant teachers): They used the electronic dictionary in translating terms. Control group (11) researchers (6 teaching assistants - 5 assistant teachers): They used manual dictionaries and the traditional method for translating the same textual terms. And through the two questionnaires for evaluating the translated textual terms and evaluating the proposed program (prepared by the researcher) and measuring the performance level of samples in the experimental and control groups. Variation (Levene's Test) for the results of the application of the program, the correlation coefficient (Spearman) to calculate the stability of the test, as the study revealed the agreement of the arbitrators specialized in the different academies on the effectiveness of the dictionary in developing the skill of translation and characterization. In the positive and effective role of the implemented program in developing the translation skill of the research sample, where the experimental group (users of the electronic dictionary) significantly outperformed the control group (users of traditional methods) in translating histological terms.
The study presented a set of recommendations that, if implemented, could benefit all specialists in the field of textile industries.
