The research mainly aims to examine the correlation between family life skills and its dimensions, and self-esteem and its dimensions for housewives, examine the correlation between some socio-economic variables and each of family life skills and its dimensions, and self-esteem and its dimensions for housewives, examine the differences between housewives in each of family life skills and its dimensions, and self-esteem and its dimensions according to place of residence and monthly family income, and examine the influence of family life skills variables on self-esteem for housewives. The research used descriptive analytical method. The sample of this study including 350 housewives working and non working who have sons at childhood between 3-12 years and from various socio-economic levels were intentionally selected. This study applied on Mahala city at Tanta Governorate. The tools of this study included (general data form for housewives, family life skills questionnaire – self-esteem questionnaire). The results of this study reveled that there were positive correlation between family life skills and self-esteem for housewives, there were no correlation between the number of family members and each of family life skills and self-esteem for housewives, there were no correlation between housewife’s job and each of family life skills and self-esteem, there were positive correlation between husband’s job and family life skills for housewives, there were no positive correlation between husband’s job and self-esteem for housewives, there were positive correlation between housewife’s education level and family life skills, there were no correlation between housewife’s education level and self-esteem, there were positive correlation between husband’s education level and family life skills for housewives, there were no correlation between husband’s education level and self-esteem for housewives, there were no differences between housewives who live in rural and urban in each of family life skills and self-esteem, there were no differences between housewives in each of family life skills and self-esteem according to monthly family income, and family life skills variables (family decision, family communication, leading family) affecting on self-esteem by 40.0% for housewives.
