Parental Attitudes Towards Children With Special Needs And Its Impact On Their Behavior Of Harmony

Abstract

The research aims to identify the relationship between attitudes of parents towards the child with special needs and its behavior of harmony. The research has been applied to a sample of 50 boys and girls in the age group (6-14) years, in the different economic and social levels, and a form of general data of the child with special needs has been applied, a questionnaire of the parent attitudes towards the child with special needs, and a questionnaire of the harmonic behavior of the child with special needs, on the research sample, and the findings have resulted in the following:

There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of respondents in their attitudes towards their children with special needs depending on the variables of the study (parents educational level, parents age, father occupation- mother occupation- family size- family monthly income- child age), and was a function in favor of the higher educational level, older parents age, father private or free business, and in favor of the non working mother, smaller family size, higher family monthly income and younger child age), while such differences were not clear depending on child gender or the child with special needs.
There is a correlation between parental attitudes towards child with special needs and variables of the study.
The proportion of participation of the factors affecting parents attitude towards the child with special needs differ, as come in the foreground the education of the mother and the father, followed by mother's age and then the father occupation.
There is a correlation between parental attitudes toward child with special needs and its behavior of harmony.
The relative weights of the priority of the axes of the behavior of harmony in the child with special needs, as it was the self behavior of harmony, followed by social, the family and then finally the academic behavior.
