Abstract

This study aimed to explore the impact of natural and mechanical adhesive strength features of handbags and shoes manufacturing materials. It also aimed to identify the impact of using adhesives (Glue and Latex) on adhesive strength to natural and artificial leather, in addition to preparation techniques of leather, handbags materials and shoe insoles.
The study utilized three types of adhesives, namely, Glue, Latex and Polyurethane) with bovine natural leather and artificial leather which are used in producing handbags (edge bending/installing, clean knife edge-bending/installing) in addition to shoe insoles of P.U and P.V.C. Moreover, specialized professor and leather manufactures have participated in the study.
The study revealed the following recommendations:
1- Latex adhesives provided better results in both natural and artificial leather with clean knife edge-bending/installing technique and installing/bending technique, respectively. With glue, results were better with natural and artificial leather when using clean knife edge-bending/installing technique and edge-bending technique, respectively.
2-  Latex adhesives techniques in handbags provided better results in both natural and artificial leather with leather and Puri, leather with cartoon, and leather with leather, respectively. With glue, results were better with natural and artificial leather when using leather and Puri and leather with leather, respectively. Unfortunately, in leather with cartoon technique, results were unsatisfactory.
3- Polyurethane provided better results in both natural and artificial leather with shoe insoles of P.U and P.V.C., respectively. On the other hand, glue utilization provided unsatisfactory results with both natural and artificial leather. Results also revealed no difference between adhesive strength in shoe insoles with P. U. and P.V.C using polyurethane .
