Abstract

Clothes are an epitome of a culture. People in different parts of the world havetheir own styles of dressing which symbolize their culture and status.
Ready-made, cheaply-produced clothes were invented in the middle of the 19th century. The appearance of increasing quantities of well-made, relatively inexpensive ready-made clothes in the 1860s was possible because of a series of technical improvements in the garment industry. One of course was the sewing machine. These developments helped make well made and fashionable clothing less expensive and more readily available.
Textiles  and clothing are among the first manufactured products an industrializing economy produces. They played a critical role in the early stage of industrialization in Britain, parts of North America, and Japan, and more recently in the export-oriented growth of the East Asian economies. Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, and Taiwan, relied heavily on textiles and clothing for their exports from the 1950s to the mid-1980s. In the last two decades, several ASEAN economies and China have become large producers and exporters of textiles and clothing. Major South Asian economies, namely, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, have also emerged as significant textile and clothing exporters in the last few years.
As more economies enter the world textile and clothing market, competition has become intense.
Research importance
Through an agreement (QUIZ) Egypt's exports of clothing and textiles increased to the United States significantly, but in spite of this favorable opportunity for Egypt, the export of clothing from Egypt to America has fallen once again, where Egypt has achieved 41% growth in 2006 and achieved 12% growth in 2007, down 30% from growth in the previous year, and this decline is a loss of the golden chance for Egypt under the agreement (QUIZ).
It was necessary to raise the competitiveness of Egypt and productivity in this area in order to benefit from the open market conditions. This study was a descriptive analysis of one of the most important export markets in the clothing in 21century which is China, in an attempt to follow the footsteps of its successes in this area.
Research objectives
-          Clear the garment industry situation in China in an attempt to identify the reasons for the progress they have in this industry and try to follow these steps to access competition in the industry for the Arab countries especially my country Egypt.
-          A presentation to the international conventions to identify the items and the possibility to take advantage of them.
Research Methodology: Theoretical analysis method.
