The quality of family life as perceived by children and its relationship to their perceptions of their future roles

Abstract

This research aims to study the relationship between the quality of family life as perceived by children and their perceptions towards their future roles. The basic study sample consisted of (261) girl and boy were chosen deliberately and from different levels of social and economic. The research tools included the general information form, the family quality of life standard,and the scale of the youth perception of future roles (a) females, (b) male, This research implement the analytical descriptive methodology .
The results showed that the level of family life quality, as perceived by children has on average rate of 42.9%. The most important aspects for children's quality of life are clarity of roles , determination of authorities, followed by problem solvin, decision making, family communication methods , and family interactions. The children,s perception of family roles and responsibilities comes in first place followed by parental roles and responsibilities, and finally marital roles and responsibilities.
The results also showed statistical significant differences at the level of 0.01 in each of the quality of family life as perceived by children and their perception of future roles by different social and economic variables , family variables, as well as positive correlation between the quality of family life as perceived by children in their dimensions and children's perception of future roles at the level of significance of 0.01. And the results showed that the quality of family life is the most influential factor and an explanation of the percentage of variance in children's perception of future roles, followed by the period of parental marriage, and satisfaction with the relations between the family members.
