FAMILY COMMUNICATION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NEGOTIATION SKILLS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS OF A SCORE OF WIVES

Abstract

There is no doubt that the familial communication plays an important role in the balance and stability of the family. In addition, negotiation is considered an important and vital issue due to its relation to human history and life since the beginning of creation. Therefore, the current research is determined in its quest to identify the relationship between family’s communication (verbal – non-verbal) and the skills of negotiation to solve problems (wisdom in decision-making - participation - anger control) of the wives population of the research. The research tools represented in the following: the form of preliminary data, the questionnaire of family communication, and the questionnaire of negotiation skills to solve problems, were applied on an intentional sample comprising 338 wives belonging to different social and economic levels.                                                                                        
This research adopted the descriptive and analytical                      methodology. The data were analyzed and the appropriate statistical processingwas performed using the SPSS program. After the classification of data, the number, percentage, KAI square, arithmetic means, standard deviation, Pearson Correlation, T-Test, One Way AnovaAnalysis of variance and LSD Test application ,with the aim to conclude the following results:                                                                  
-      There is a positive correlation between the family communication with its two axes (verbal, nonverbal) and the total and negotiation skills to solve the problems with its axes (wisdom in decision-making - participation-anger control) the total. - There are   differences between the average scores of the research sample in family communication in its two axes and the total, infavor of the rural population.- There are no differences between the average scores of the research sample in family verbal communication according to the work of women.                           
-      There are differences between the average scores of the research sample in the nonverbal communication and the total, in favor of the non-working women - There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the research sample in family communication in its two axes and the total, in favor of the longest period of marriage, older wife, the lower age difference between the spouses and the higher educational level of the wife, and the higher monthly income of the family.  - There were no differences between the average scores of the research sample in the negotiation skills to solve the problems (wisdom in decision-making -participation) and the total according to the place of residence, while there are differences in the skill of (anger control),in favor of the rural population  - There were no differences between the average scores of the research sample in the negotiation skills to solve the problems (participation and control of anger) according to the work of women, while there are differences between the average scores of the research sample in the skill (wisdom in decision-making and total) in favor of working women.                       
-      There are differences between the average scores of the research sample in the negotiation skills to solve the problems (wisdom in decision-making -participation - anger control),in favor of the longest period of marriage.
-      There is no correlation between the skill (wisdom in decision-making) and the age difference between the spouses, while there is a positive correlation between the negotiation skills to solve the problems (participation - anger control)and the total.
-      There is a positive statistically indicative correlation between the negotiation skills to solve family problems in its axes and the total, and each of: age of the wife, level of wife’s education, and the monthly income level of the family.                                                                       
The study recommended that those concerned with family in the society should be directed to allocate awareness programs to those who are approaching marriage to raise their awareness of the importance of the familial verbal and nonverbal communication in order to avoid many family problems, and dissemination of awareness in the educational programs concerned with women regarding  the importance of the negotiation skills which help women to acquire behavioral performances that enable them to deal with the potential family problems they may face.
