Effectiveness of thinking maps in developing academic achievement and some systemic thinking skills in Home Economics for the middle school pupils

Abstract

The research aims to investigate the effectiveness of using thinking maps in developing academic achievement and some systemic thinking skills among a group of (60) puipls from the first preparatory grade at Kafrmishla School for Basic Education, Kafr El-Zayat Center, Gharbia Governorate.They were divided into two groups, one of which is experimental (N=30), and the other iscontrol(N=30). The researcher prepared on academic achievement test and the systemic thinking skills test. The research followed the quasi-experimental and descriptive.The results revealed that:
1- There is a statistically significant difference at(0.01) level between the mean scores of students of the experimental group, and those of the control group puipls in the post-application of the academic achievement test as a whole and for each of its levels in favor of the experimental group.
2- There is a statistically significant difference at(0.01) level between the mean scores of the experimental group pupils, and those of the pupils of the control group in the post-application of systemic thinking skills test as a whole, and its sub-dimensions in favor of the experimental group.
3- Thereis a statistically significant positive correlation at the level of (0.01) between the scores of post-application for academic achievement test, and the pupils’scores of the systemic thinking test.
This reflects the effectiveness of using thinking maps in developing the prep,school pupils’ academic achievement and some systemic thinking skills in Home Economics”.
