Abstract

The current study attempted to investigate the effectiveness of a program based on authentic assessment in developing achievement and practical skills of secondary school students in “Home Economics”
The participants included 60 first year secondary students (females) selected randomly from shebin el-koum ancient secondary school for girls in menoufia governorate. the instruments included an achievement test in “home Economics” and practical skills observation card. After pre-administrating the instruments to both the control and experimental groups, the proposed program was taught to the experimental group students.
Then, the instruments were re-administrated to both groups. the findings revealed that the proposed program proved to be effective in developing students’ achievement and practical skills in “Home Economics
