The Relationship between positive thinking , perceived self – efficacy and achievement among Menoufia Faculty of "Home Economics".

Abstract

The current research aims to identify the relationship between (positive thinking and perceived self-efficacy) and (academic achievement) for students of the Faculty of Home Economics - Menoufia University. The study sample consisted of 449 students from the second and fourth year students at the Faculty of Home Economics - Menoufia University. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method. The tools were "positive thinking scale" and "perceived self-efficacy scale" which is prepared by the researcher, and to measure academic achievement the percentage of the student achievement score was calculated in the academic year (2018-2019).
The results showed that there was a positive correlation with statistically significant at (0.01) level between the students' scores in the positive thinking scale and their scores in the perceived self-efficacy scale, and a positive correlation was statistically significant at (0.01) between the students' scores in the scale "Positive Thinking" and their grades in academic achievement for positive thinking as a whole and the presence of a positive correlation of statistical significance at the level (0.01) between the grades of students in the scale of perceived self-efficacy and their grades in attainment for the self-perceived competence as a whole.
Results also showed the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the average grades of students of the second and fourth grades on the scale of positive thinking and self-efficacy perceived for the second year and the absence of differences between the average grades of students of the two groups for academic achievement. The absence of statistically significant differences between the research groups by specialization for the measure of positive thinking and self-perceived efficiency of the academic achievement as a whole, while there are statistically significant differences in achievement at the level (0.01) due to the difference of specialization in favor of Clothing and Textile versus other departments and for the benefit of Nutrition and Food Science versus Home Management and Institutions.
Academic achievement can be predicted through positive thinking and perceived self-efficacy. According to the results of the researcher presented some suggestions and educational applications that can contribute to the development of positive thinking and raise the efficiency of perceived self, which affects the improvement of the level of academic achievement of students of the Faculty of Home Economics
