The Effectiveness Of Mind Mapping Strategy In Teaching Home Economics On Developing Creative Thinking And Cognitive Achievement Among Prep. Stage Female Students

Abstract

The current research aimed at examining the effectiveness of mind mapping strategy in teaching Home Economics on developing creative thinking and cognitive achievement among a group of (50) 1st year preparatory stage female students enrolled at El-morshedy Omar School, Tanta Educational Administration, Gharbia Governorate. The participants were divided into two groups an experimental (n. =25) and a control group (n. =25). To achieve this aim, a Creative Thinking Test and a Cognitive Achievement Test were prepared. The researcher used the quasi –experimental and descriptive approaches. The findings revealed the following:

There is a statistically significant difference at (p>0.01) level between the experimental and the control groups’ mean scores in the Creative Thinking Test as a whole, and on each sub-skill separately in favor of the experimental group.
There is a statistically significant difference at (p>0.01) level between the experimental and the control groups’ mean scores in the Cognitive Achievement Test in favor of the experimental group.
There is a statistically significant correlation between the experimental group’s scores in the post application of the Creative Thinking Test and the Cognitive Achievement Test.
