Emotional intelligence and its relationship to emotional gratification between spouses in the Saudi family

Abstract

Emotional satisfaction is considered one of the most important elements of success in married life and one of the spouses may lack the methods and methods achieved for that satisfaction and their enjoyment of the skills of emotional intelligence may contribute to obtaining optimal emotional satisfaction, and conducted research with the aim of studying the relationship between emotional intelligence and emotional satisfaction between the couple in the Saudi family. The questionnaires used the general data questionnaire for the family, the emotional intelligence questionnaire, and the questionnaire and emotional satisfaction between the spouses in the Saudi family to collect the data analyzed statistically by the descriptive analytical method of the study tools and their variables on a sample that included (550) the women of the Saudi family.
One of the most important results of the study was the existence of a correlation between emotional intelligence and emotional satisfaction between the spouses in the Saudi family at the level of significance of 0.01. It was also found that there were statistically significant differences between the average scores of the sample members in emotional intelligence depending on the socio-economic variables of the family. The existence of statistically significant differences between the average grades of the sample members in the emotional satisfaction between the spouses in the Saudi family depending on the socio-economic variables of the family. It also showed that the variable educational level in the research sample is one of the most related factors and affects the emotional intelligence of the couple by 83.4%, followed by the profession with 71.7%, and comes in third place the duration of marriage and reached 63.6%, and finally in the fourth place age with 56.6%. It was also found that one of the most related factors affecting emotional satisfaction between spouses is the variable duration of marriage and reached 77.2%, followed by the educational level at 67.3%, and comes in third place profession with 60.2%, and finally the variable number of family members (family size) and came in fourth with 54.2%
In light of the results of the research, one of the most important recommendations of the research was: the establishment of specialized centers for marital guidance of family reform associations in different regions of the Kingdom concerned with providing guidance services before and after marriage, providing educational courses and programs for Saudi families on emotional intelligence and emotional satisfaction between spouses, including the method of emotional intelligence among the courses in schools and universities.
